Preliminary Experiments Using a Digital Camera to Measure Commercial Light Sources

چکیده

This is an introductory report on some experiments performed to explore the issues involved in using a digital camera to make images that can be used to measure the brightness of commercial light sources. Interest in these measurements is a consequence of our desire to learn more about techniques and methods for defining, measuring, and characterizing glare associated with various light sources. With development of a successful protocol, International Dark Sky Association (IDA) members should be able to collect large numbers of images of geographically distributed light sources that can be measured for brightness, as well as evaluated for glare. Experience with such a protocol is described in this report.

Non-destructive Method for Estimating Biomass of Plants Using Digital Camera Images

Abstract Plant growth and biomass assessments are required in production and research. Such assessments are followed by major decisions (e.g., harvest timing) that channel resources and influence outcomes. In research, resources required to assess crop status affect other aspects of experimentation and, therefore, discovery. Destructive harvests are important because they influence treatment s...

A Proposed Simple Teleradiology System Using a Digital Camera

Background & Aims: Teleradiology as an efficient way for avoiding unnecessary transfer of patients to special medical centers requires the images with digital format. However, in some developing countries, including Iran, imaging is being done using non digital devices. In such cases, changing analog images into digital ones can solve the problem. The method which is nowadays used for digita...

Mobile Camera Array Calibration for Light Field Acquisition

The light field camera is useful for computer graphics and vision applications. Calibration is an essential step for these applications. After calibration, we can rectify the captured image by using the calibrated camera parameters. However, the large camera array calibration method, which assumes that all cameras are on the same plane, ignores the orientation and intrinsic parameters. The mult...

Effect of digital elevation model’s resolution in producing flood hazard maps

Flooding is one of the most devastating natural disasters occurring annually in the Philippines. A call for a solution for this malady is very challenging as well as crucial to be addressed. Mapping flood hazard is an effective tool in determining the extent and depth of floods associated with hazard level in specified areas that need to be prioritized during flood occurrences. Precedent to the...

Experiments in 3D Measurements by Using Single Camera and Accurate Motion

A method to capture 3D coordinates of object features is described and preliminary results of our experiments are presented. Our method is based on the utilisation of traditional parallax equations, determination of undistorted image coordinates, and accurately known motion of a CCD-camera. Error sources of the method are described and equations to estimate the effect of these errors on the res...
